Dear Elisabeth von Uhl:

I am Jennifer Saeteros, and I am currently a freshman who is attending The City College of New York. I am writing to share my deep interest in the field of Electrical Engineering. The aspects that have contributed to my interest in Electrical Engineering have been the brief exposure to the topic in high school, which includes electronic components and devices’ applications. This exposure in high school has grabbed my attention and gave me an insight into the field. Influential figures such as Nikola Tesla and Thomas Edison also have contributed to my interest in the Engineering field. These two figures have set my inspiration for how engineering can be a door that opens to creativity, innovations, and a way to improve current technological devices. It is incredible how knowledge in the Engineering field can result in significant innovations.
The career goal that I will pursue a career in the Electrical Engineering field. My short-term goals are to gain experience and training in electrical engineering. I want to able to further my knowledge through an internship with a company, for instance, Con Edison. Then within four or five years, I can obtain my bachelor’s degree in engineering and find a suitable job. In the long-term, with the experience that I have gained, I will open up my own company that is inspired by an innovation that I have created or improved on. Whereas might include developing a green energy device that does not occupy too much space and is more affordable, unlike solar panels and windmills. Also, I would help in creating the new and improved self-flying airplane. My company will also incorporate a union of engineers that collaborate in analyzing current technological problems, finding the possible solutions, and testing for the most effective solution. The approach to solving a problem as an engineer will be challenging and time-consuming, but self-accomplishment will be a rewarding feeling. In my previous experience in the Mentor program, our goal was to design a school building on Roosevelt Island. It had all the facilities it needed, which consisted of interior design, electrical components, plumbing, environmental suitability, and more. With experienced engineers and my peers, we were able to accomplish our goal. I seek that my company will have the foundation of teamwork to solve and improve current problems.
Professor Elisabeth von Uhl, I hope you have been able to understand my deep interest and my goal career goals for Electrical Engineering. Feel free to contact me at (718)-777-777 or at [email protected]. I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Saeteros
